MC Celebrates World Teachers’ Day


 With the theme, Teachers: My Heroes, MC celebrated the World Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2010 at the Clubhouse B, Xevera, Mabalacat, Pampanga. The event was organized by the MC Student Society under the auspices of the VPAA and VPSAS. Mayor Marino P. Morales and Vice Mayor Noel Castro graced the occasion with their presence.

Ms. Dianna T. Garcia of the College of Education, in her opening remarks, extolled the teachers, calling them “our heroes” while Ms. Ivy T. De Guzman of the College of Information Technology Education serenaded them with her fitting rendition of Tyler Collins’ Thanks to You.

Student representatives from each College, in behalf of their classmates, expressed gratefulness to their mentors. As a respond, Ms. Edwina M. Dungca, in behalf of the teachers, challenged the students to study hard to achieve their goals. Mr. Carlos R. Paras, MC Student Society President, delivered an Ode to a Teacher while Ms. Roselyn M. Vergara, Equalizer Editor-in-Chief, led the Prayer for Teachers.
  
Based on consensus, the MC Student Society recognizes the exceptional qualities of some members of the faculty. Dr. Leonardo C. Canlas, President, together with VPs Dr. Eriberta T. Maglaqui, Mrs. Carmelita P. Sotto and Mrs. Amelia Z. Macapagal awarded Certificates of Recognition to the following members of the faculty:

The World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually since 1994. It commemorates the anniversary of the signing UNESCO/ILO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers in 1966. The MC tribute was hosted by Ms. Roselyn M. Vergara and Mr. Richard John W. Hernandez.
